Sightings in Pomorie lagoon

Posted by Rossen

After the end of spring migration in June the Pomorie lagoon is inhabited only by birds breeding in the coastal lagoon and habitats along the Black Sea. Here my target species were Sandwich Tern and a dragonfly species occurring mainly in salt marshes and lagoons of the Black Sea.

Sandwich Tern

Sandwich Tern nests in the Pomorie lagoon on an artificial island in the colony with other species such as Little Tern and Common Tern.

Dark Spreadwing

This Dark Spreadwing (Lestes macrostigma) observed in salt marsh near Pomorie saltpans perched on the coastal vegetation.

Here below attach some pictures of the other common bird species of Pomorie lagoon and typical of the region habitats.
