Coots are the most numerous wintering birds in the ponds of southwestern Bulgaria. This can be summarized after the observations in mid-January, as other registered wintering waterfowl with smaller populations are: Mallard, Little Grebe, Morhen, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Lapwing and others.
